Laila Ali believes in the power of organic foods, do you?
According to the Mayo Clinic, organic refers to produce grown without pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, sewage sludge or growth hormones. Some studies show increased health benefits in organically grown ingredients over traditionally grown foods.
Ali tries to stick to this type of cleaning eating not only for herself but for her children. Curtis Jr. and Sydney, as well.
The undefeated boxing champion took her daughter to an organic farm in Compton, California, to learn about the value of organic produce.
“Took my daughter to learn about growing your own food this weekend so that she understands that REAL food doesn’t come from a factory after it’s been processed,” Ali said in an Instagram caption.“She had a blast working in the organic garden!”
The now health and wellness expert talks about her healthy eating practices and gets tips from guests on her podcast Laila Ali Lifestyle, but she also takes to Instagram to show off the healthy meals she’s cooked up in the kitchen. These are all sneak peeks of her cookbook coming later this year.
Although Ali might be onboard with organic, some people just don’t believe the hype. While there is some evidence of increased nutrients, omega-3 fatty acids and reduced pesticides, many people believe organic products are a grocery gimmick to get consumers to spend more.
