Former NBA star Lamar Odom is opening up about the drug overdose that nearly took his life in October 2015, in a clip from an upcoming episode of “The Doctors,” set to air Tuesday.
“I was basically just committing suicide,” the 37-year-old former Los Angeles Laker said in the video clip.
Cocaine and a Viagra-like substance triggered Odom’s overdose at the Nevada brothel back in 2015, and he opened up about the life struggles that led him to that near-death experience in the episode.
Odom also drops a tearful bombshell in the video: that he wants his ex-wife, reality star Khloe Kardashian, back in his life.
Although Kardashian and Odom were in the middle of divorce proceedings at the time of his overdose, Kardashian rushed to his side and stayed with him in the hospital while he recuperated.
The retired forward reunited with some of his former teammates and colleagues: former Lakers teammate Luke Walton, who is now the team’s head coach, former assistant Lakers coach Brian Shaw, and retired NBA and Los Angeles Clippers player Keyon Dooling.
Odom checked out of a San Diego rehab center on Jan. 5 after a monthlong stay in his attempt to continue on the path to sobriety.
