Cleveland Cavaliers guard Isaiah Thomas will finally make his debut this season tonight in Cleveland against the Portland Trailblazers. Thomas has been sidelined with a hip injury that he suffered during the playoffs last season. IT’s teammate LeBron James made the announcement via his Instagram page on New Years Day to much fanfare.
Thomas hip will be tested in a major way vs. the Blazers, as Damian Lillard will be returning to the team’s lineup tonight as well. No word as to how many minutes Thomas will play, but conventional wisdom says coach Lue will play it safe. The Cavs have already made it clear that he will not participate in Wednesday’s game vs. his old team the Celtics. Leave it to the NBA scheduling department and those pesky back-to-back games to ruin a potentially great storyline.
When Thomas does hit the court tonight at Quicken Loans Arena, he will be wearing a brand new colorway of the Kobe A.D. sneaker, dubbed the Mighty I.T. Thomas is signed to Nike but does not yet have his own signature shoe. The All-Star guard has been wearing various Kobe Bryant signature models for a while.
Thomas has had several Nike Player Exclusive shoes in the past, but this is the first time the brand has dedicated a shoe specifically to him. The Mighty I.T. features Cavs colors on the upper with a small gold swoosh shadowed by a larger Nike logo. The outsole is a mix of white and gum. Kobe’s Mamba logo is featured on the tongue and heel, with Thomas’s initials above the logo.
The shoe will be made available to the public on January 6th for $150.
