The couple has received a lot of success personally and professionally in the last year and a half. Shumpert won the 2016 NBA Championship with the Cavs, Taylor blew up after her sizzling performance in Kanye West’s “Fade” music video, they got married and welcomed their first child, Junie.
The two revealed for the first time that their wedding took place in their bedroom, right outside the bathroom where Junie was born.
“That was definitely a major, major highlight of the year and one of the best things of my life,” Taylor told GQ.
While the article focused on all aspects of their work and relationship, the proud parents always circled their answers back to their daughter.
Shumpert is in season and Taylor is working on an album, so when they are both at home in Cleveland they like to go to dinner, the movies or take Junie to Chuck E. Cheese, they told GQ. If they aren’t taking on the games, to win prizes for the 1-year-old, they are running behind her keeping her out of trouble.
“Junie’s going to eat more pizza than us,” Shumpert said. “She is going to throw stuff. She’s going to go to other people’s tables and try to take stuff. She’s going to try to scratch other kids.”
When they are just hanging out, the self-proclaimed homebodies keep it quiet and Junie follows suit…except when comes to some alone time for mom and dad.
“Junie, man, Junie’s the best,” Taylor said. “Because she kind of just be rolling with the homies, she’s cool with the vibe. We sleep, she sleeps. We’re up, she’s up. We move around, she moves around. Except when me and Iman be lovey-dovey, then she can be cock-blockin’.”
We know the couple keeps it grown and sexy, and they aren’t shy about it. Taylor shared this seemingly tame photo on Instagram wishing her hubby a happy Valentine’s Day with a caption giving the public a glimpse into their bedroom.
Shumpert and Taylor share no shortage of love for each other on the gram. Even when she isn’t pictured, Shumpert always tags his wedding ring as @teyanataylor so you know what’s up. Couple goals is an understatement.
The couple is extremely close and Taylor says two days apart feels like two months. When their work takes them to different cities she says they talk constantly to keep up with what the other has going on. Their strong communication and busy work schedules makes it easy to ignore anything the rumor mill might be sprouting.
“We don’t have any struggle with regards to that because it’s like people’s stories aren’t good enough,” Taylor said. “It’s almost like, ‘Okay, you said you did this—’ literally me, him, and Junie were just at practice, [or] we were just at my soundcheck, so when does he have time to do that?”
