Last night in Atlanta, Under Armour held a private event for the launch of Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton’s first signature shoe, the C1N. The shoe was co-designed by Newton and inspired by his competitive nature on the field and his off-field style.

The event, which was hosted by DJ Scream, featured local artists competing in a living walls competition and a special guest performance by Newton’s Southside ATL homie 2 Chainz. Chainz ran through a medley of hits including his current smash “It’s A Vibe.” Chainz told the intimate crowd that he was only slated to perform five songs, but was coaxed into doing an impromptu encore by Cam, who jumped on stage and served as the hype man for some of the QB’s favorite 2 Chainz songs!

In addition to co-designing the shoe, Cam was also hands on with the C1N advertising campaign. He served as creative director for the “Ferocity meets Artistry” push that will run throughout 2017. The first piece of content from the campaign was produced by Newton’s production company Iconic Saga, features Cam highlighting the positive aspects of his hometown Atlanta, GA.

That ATL love translates to the very first C1N release, the “Hometown.” The shoe is primarily red, with gold accents throughout. Keeping with the versatile theme, Cam’s kicks look good enough to wear out on the town but they can also be a good pair of workout shoes. The shoe features a rugged outsole for traction and a Threadborne upper for rugged flexibility, which UA shoes are known for.

UA plans to release three C1N color ways this year, starting with the “Hometown,” which will be released on July 20th on UA.com and select retailers for $120.00. The “Chairman” and “442” color ways will follow on September 8th and October 20th respectively.
